Upstanding winter athletes
The ongoing Winter Olympics have a cheating report but a strange one, “Penisgate”, where some athletes – only males, apparently – have had penis injections to add a bit more size, which apparently helps them fly longer and further.
Longer and further are also the actual medical outcomes for some men.
Why can’t athletes just do the best they can rather than become the topic of derision and online memes?
Very cold weather can cause “shrinkage” but if it would affect all that could, then use the injections to restore function and form.
It will be hard to find a more stupid form of cheating and they face stiff penalties. It really does sound like a complete cock-up. Too many puns and not enough column space for them all.

Three Coins in the Fountain now expensive
There are so many places that tourists want to see at their leisure and absorb the beauty of.
Japan’s Mt. Fuji has, however, now become the place to do your Instagram photo rather than a site of beauty and cultural importance.
The same has become a problem with Rome’s Trevi fountain, it’s just too popular. Tossing a coin in the fountain, which goes to charity, will now cost an extra €2, which will go to the government although that will mainly be used to manage the area.
A similar fee has been implemented for access to Venice.
The fee is anticipated to raise €6 million, a vast sum of money for a vast number of tourists, three million.
Given that it will apply for 12 hours a day, a quick calculation gives each tourist just over five seconds to step up, smile, click and leave although if they were to have 10 “Instagram platforms” available you would get a minute.
Is this the wrong solution to tourist problem, given it won’t reduce the numbers?
Should we use a ballot to reduce numbers?
Should such sites be valued more for the history you can hear and the culture you can learn about rather than the image that you can post online?
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder but it takes more than five seconds to capture an understand the importance of over 250 years of history.

A Web of evil spreads out
The latest release of Epstein files has included so many names, many of which we have already heard about but now there are some new ones.
One that has shocked us was that of a previous Australian Prime Minister, Kevin Rudd, and there was an initial uproar of rumors and gossip as seems to happen so often and so easily on social media.
The reality, however, was that he was just one of many names that Epstein wanted to contact and Rudd had no connection at all with him.
It appears that Epstein was building a web of contacts to use for his own purposes, some to join his evil, some as people of power to help him, some as a connection to the next person. This was an evil version of the “Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon” where one connection led to another and so on.
Maybe we need to be more insular and only include trusted friends and family in our community. This is hard when social media emphasizes building more connections and a larger “friends” list.
A friend should be someone you have actually met and shaken hands with.
Be wary, as he won’t be the last evil person that looks to connect with others but at the same time remember that almost all people are good and trustworthy./PN
