MANILA – San Beda Red Lions continued its hot streak in the NCAA Season 93 men’s seniors basketball following an 88-51 victory over Emilio Aguinaldo College Generals yesterday at San Juan Arena.

Amiel Soberano led the way with 17 points, on five-of-seven shooting from three-point line.

With the win, the Red Lions remained at second place in the standings with 15-1 win-loss card.

Jayvee Mocon added double-double 15 points and 12 rebounds while Donald Tankoua and rookie Franz Abuda contributed 10 markers apiece.

“We’re happy we got this win and I hope that with our play today, we’ll be consistent about until the end of the playoffs. I’m really happy everybody stepped up,” said Red Lions head coach Teodorico Fernandez III.

Red Lions had a blazing start in the match with Mocon and Abuda combining for four triples for a 26-11 advantage.
The Generals made their shots in the second frame but the Red Lions still maintained a 40-28 lead at the half.

The Red Lions pulled away further in the second half with Soberano, Tankoua and Mocon converting their shots to build its largest lead of the game at 37 point from a triple by Ranbill Tongco.

Sidney Onwubere was the lone bright spot as he finished with 22 points for the Generals, which had slid down to seventh place in the standings with 6-10 win-loss card.
In the second game, Abdou Poutouchi drained go-ahead free throws as Jose Rizal University Heavy Bombers escaped with a 60-58 win over San Sebastian Stags. Heavy Bombers improved to third place with 10-6 win-loss card, while Stags slid to 7-8.
