ILOILO City – Two people wielding short firearms robbed a variety store in Barangay San Antonio, Lemery, Iloilo.

The suspects took away P7,000 worth of sales but not before threatening the family owning the store, police said.

Couple Lerio and Liezel Hallardo told the Lemery police that the suspects barged into their house at around 8 p.m. on Friday.

Liezel and their 14-year-old daughter were watching television at the living room while Lerio was at the kitchen at the time, said Senior Inspector Rolando Araño, Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) spokesperson.

One of the suspects dragged the daughter to the store just outside the house while the other trained his gun at Lerio.

Lerio tried to grab the firearm of one of the suspects but the other suspect helped his cohort restrain the father.

“When one of the suspects went to the kitchen, Lerio pushed the other suspect and ran. The suspect fired at him but missed,” Araño said.

The suspects carted away the cash, leaving the family unharmed.

Araño said the IPPO has identified the suspects and launched a manhunt operation.

He refused to identify the culprits pending their arrest.

Citing intelligence information, Araño said the suspects have pending cases in court for robbery./PN
