BACOLOD City – Police arrested a suspected member of a robbery-holdup group in Purok 4, Barangay Elihan, Cauayan, Negros Occidental.
Christian “Dodong” Trinidad, an 18-year-old resident of the village, tried to draw a gun but opted to surrender after a warning shot from the pursuing officers, said Chief Inspector Ruben Pajarito, Cauayan police chief.
Trinidad was allegedly part of the group of Riching Villanueva, who was arrested on March 1 in Barangay Pahanocoy in this city.
A father of one of his cohorts tipped the police off about Villanueva’s presence in Bangga Aning.
Police seized from Villanueva a .45-caliber pistol.
Around 5 p.m. on Monday, police cornered Trinidad in Barangay Elijan. The suspect yielded a .9mm-caliber pistol with four live bullets. Other people with him managed to escape.
Police said Trinidad has a pending robbery charge. He was a suspect in forcibly taking jewelry from a foreigner./PN
