ILOILO City – Vice President Leni Robredo urged Iloilo mayors to report to her office problems related to the government’s housing projects.
Robredo was here yesterday. Her office will be looking into the problems, most especially those related to super typhoon “Yolanda” reconstruction efforts.
“Kasi I discovered na marami pang Yolanda housing na hindi pa naasikaso,” she said.
Robredo heads the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council.
Yesterday, she spoke at the Enhancing Local Economy Through PPP seminar organized by the West Visayas State University Master in Public Governance.
She also graced the national convention of the Metropolitan and City Judges Association of the Philippines, Inc. here.
“If in your municipality merong kayong ganung (housing) problema, I would appreciate it sana if you can write me. Kahit tapos na ‘yung housing project pero wala pang tubig, binabalikan namin ‘yung lahat na may problema,” said Robredo.
Iloilo governor Arthur Defensor Sr. hosted a lunch for the Vice President and her group together with the mayors of Iloilo.
The Vice President said her office is also banking on public-private partnerships for projects considering that her office has funding constraints.
“Ang opisina ko wala masyadong pondo so we are taking advantage of the good connections that we have with the private sector. Hindi po mahirap manghingi basta po sinabing Iloilo,” she added.
The Vice President also visited Guimaras which she said was among the eight provinces in the country she was not able to visit during campaign period but still delivered majority of the votes for her./PN
