MANILA – President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Monday welcomed the significant fuel price rollback but stressed that it will not be enough to fully ease the burden on Filipinos, as the government prepares additional measures to bring down transportation and food costs.
The President announced that fuel prices will drop starting today, with diesel set to record the largest reduction.
“Mahigit P20 ang ibababa sa diesel. Ang gasolina naman, may bawas na P4.43 kada litro. At sa kerosene, kada litro ang ibababa,” he said.
Marcos said the rollback is expected to provide immediate relief to motorists, commuters, and households that have been grappling with months of elevated fuel costs.
However, he acknowledged that the reduction alone will not fully offset the impact of previous oil price hikes.
“Hindi pa ito sapat,” Marcos said.
He assured the public that the government will sustain its interventions to cushion the effects of global oil price volatility, driven largely by geopolitical tensions.
“Kaya tuloy-tuloy ang ginagawa ng pamahalaan para maibsan ang epekto nito sa inyong pang-araw-araw na buhay,” he added.
The President said more measures are in the pipeline, particularly those aimed at reducing transportation expenses, stabilizing food prices, and lowering the overall cost of living.
“Hindi po tayo titigil hangga’t hindi natin napapababa ang gastos sa biyahe, sa pagkain at sa kabuuang pamumuhay,” he said.
The government has already implemented targeted assistance programs, including fuel subsidies and transport support, as part of its response to ongoing energy challenges.
