ROXAS City – This city recorded 53 new cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) on June 7 – 53.
Of these, 24 came from eight families or households with two or more members as index cases.
The youngest cases were a six-month-old baby boy and a four-month-old baby girl.
The 53 new cases brought the total active COVID-19 cases here to 328 and the cumulative cases to 1,549.
But there’s good news, too — 15 more cases recovered, bringing the total recoveries to 1,153.
COVID deaths here, on the other hand, remained at 68.
Roxas City is currently under modified enhanced community quarantine.
Mayor Ronnie Dadivas said the city government is establishing a temporary treatment monitoring facility or intermediate care facility at Hortus Botanicus to decongest hospitals.
The most common symptoms of COVID-19 are fever, tiredness, and dry cough.
Some patients may have aches and pains, nasal congestion, runny nose, sore throat or diarrhea. These symptoms are usually mild and begin gradually. Some people become infected but don’t develop any symptoms and don’t feel unwell.
Most people recover from the disease without needing special treatmen, according to the World Health Organization.
Older people, and those with underlying medical problems like high blood pressure, heart problems or diabetes, are more likely to develop serious illness./PN
