ROXAS City – Barangay Lawaan bested other Western Visayas villages in the 2021 Lupong Tagapamayapa Incentives Awards for Component Cities Category.
A Certificate of Recognition was awarded to the barangay on Aug. 23 by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) in a virtual awarding ceremony.
According to Regional Director Juan Jovian Ingeniero who chaired the awards committee, Barangay Lawaan exhibited “above benchmark performance in strengthening the Katarungang Pambarangay.”
Katarungang Pambarangay is a grassroots level conflict resolution mechanism and “a potent vehicle for social order and human development,” according to Ingeniero.
Barangay Lawaan chief Jocelyn Asis welcomed the award plus cash incentive for her village.
Mayor Ronnie Dadivas congratulated the Lupong Tagapamayapa of Barangay Lawaan.
“Ini nga pasidungog nagapamatuod sang maayo nga performance sang Lupong Tagapamayapa sang Lawaan para mapagsiguro ang matalunsay nga resolusyon sang mga nagatuhaw nga kumplikto sa ila barangay,” said Dadivas./PN
