BACOLOD City – The City of San Carlos in Negros Occidental is a “drop-off point” for illegal drugs from neighboring Cebu province, based on the latest investigation and monitoring by the city’s police force.
San Carlos City’s Mayor Renato Gustilo, in a radio interview yesterday morning, said due to intensified anti-drug operations in Cebu, drug peddlers would transport their supply of shabu to San Carlos City.
The illegal drugs are hidden in the city and once the situation cools off in Cebu, drug peddlers will take their supply back to their province, the city mayor added.
Meanwhile, mandatory drug tests among San Carlos City Government employees continue to ensure a drug-free workplace.
Eighteen employees initially tested positive for illegal drug use during a series of random drug tests in December last year.
Gustilo confirmed on Friday, Jan. 5, that nine more workers yielded positive results, seven of whom were job order while two others were regular employees.
The city mayor further urged the San Carlos City Police Station to intensify their monitoring and arrests of individuals involved in illegal drug activities. (Watchmen Daily Journal)/PN
