BACOLOD City – No illegal drugs were recovered during a routine shakedown or “greyhound” operation at the San Carlos City District Jail on April 28.
The operation was conducted by members of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Negros Occidental and the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology.
At around 9 a.m., the district jail’s guards led the inmates to the open area of the facility.
PDEA operatives, along with their K-9 units, then entered the jail’s cell blocks and conducted a thorough search.
Meanwhile, 40 of the jail’s inmates, as well as the 32 jail personnel, underwent random drug testing. All tested negative for illegal drug use./PN
