SAN JOSE, Antique – As of March 28, this town had 19 active cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

They were in “stable condition and under strict monitoring” by the Municipal Health Office, said Mayor Elmer Untaran.

Of these cases, six were confined in hospitals in Iloilo City, seven were in the community isolation facility here, and six were confined at the Angel Salazar Memorial General Hospital here.

Massive contract tracing was launched, said Untaran.

The contacts would be swabbed and quarantined while waiting for their test results.

“We strongly urge those who have been exposed to people with COVID-19 to cooperate and be honest for us to effectively manage the spread of the virus,” said Untaran.

He reminded residents of San Jose to continue wearing facemask and face shield in public, observe physical distancing and proper washing of hands.

“As much as possible, stay home. Avoid non-essential travel,” said Untaran.

He also appealed to people “to refrain from any act of discrimination, and/or spreading fear or insult among others.”/PN
