BACOLOD City-The local government unit here is planning to construct Cell No. 3 at this city’s sanitary landfill in Barangay Felisa in preparation that Cell No. 2 is becoming too full.
Ramel Palalon, officer-in-charge of the Department of Public Services (DPS) disclosed that probably in six months the Cell No. 3 will become full, that is why the city is preparing.
He said the city has allocated one hectare wherein the new cell will be constructed and the bidding for its construction is being readied.
It learned that the IPM-Construction and Development Corp.(IPM-CDC) is the city’s contractor concerning the environment and sanitary services.
The IPM-CDC collects and hauls the garbage, at the same time they are also in charge of the management and operation of the sanitary landfill in this city.
Cell No. 2 was constructed in 2018 and was finished in 2019, thus the IPM-CDC was the contractor also.
The garbage is collected in this city is averaging 1,800 cubic meters per day, Palalon said./PN
