
ILOILO – A farmer was hacked to death in Barangay Tuburan, Santa Barbara town.
Elmo Susmiran was 47 years old. His body was found at around 6:05 a.m. yesterday in a rice paddy.
Susmiran was last seen alive at around 7 p.m. on Oct. 8 on a drinking binge at a friend’s house.
According to Police Captain Reymond Celoso, Santa Barbara police chief, Susmiran left the group at around 9 p.m. to supposedly go home.
The victim never reached home.
Susmiran’s 15-year-old son found the farmer’s body, said Celoso.
As of this writing, the Santa Barbara police had not named any suspect.
Residents living near where Susmiran was found told the police they heard noises at around midnight, and that dogs kept barking.
