
ILOILO City – A 62-year-old man identified as alias “Tatang Nilo,” single, and classified as a high-value individual (HVI), was arrested in a late-night anti-drug operation in Barangay Villa Anita, City Proper district.
The buy-bust operation, carried out at around 11:55 p.m. on December 11, resulted in the confiscation of more or less 210 grams of suspected shabu. Authorities recovered six transparent plastic sachets containing a white crystalline substance believed to be shabu, along with buy-bust money, proceeds from the illegal transaction, and drug and non-drug-related items.
The joint operation was conducted by the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit 6 (RPDEU-6), Regional Intelligence Division 6, Police Drug Enforcement Group – Special Operations Unit 6, and Iloilo City Police Station 7.
Police Regional Office 6 director Brigadier General Josefino D. Ligan commended the operating teams for the successful arrest and seizure.
He further urged the public to continue supporting law enforcement efforts: “I continuously urge our community to support our initiatives for a safer and more secure Western Visayas.”
The suspect is presently detained at Iloilo City Police Station 7 and will face charges for violating Sections 5 and 11 of Republic Act 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, which carry penalties ranging from life imprisonment to death and fines from P500,000 to P10 million./PN
