ILOILO City – Policemen arrested a 30-year-old man in Ajuy, Iloilo accused by his girlfriend of blackmail.
George Nipangue of Barangay Culasi, Ajuy threatened his girlfriend with spreading their sex videos on social media if she won’t give him money, according to Chief Inspector Charlie Sustento, Ajuy police chief.
The girlfriend, 26, sought the Ajuy police station’s help and an entrapment was planned.
On Friday around 3:17 p.m., Nipangue was arrested after receiving P10,000 from his girlfriend at a restaurant in Barangay Poblacion, Ajuy.
The girlfriend, a resident of Barangay Malayuan, Ajuy, wanted to break off with Nipangue after discovering that he was actually a married man and have children and this angered the suspect, according to Sustento.
During the entrapment operation, a hidden camera set up by the police recorded the extortion.
But this was not the first time the suspect demanded money from his girlfriend, said Sustento.
The girlfriend told the police she was forced to give Nipangue P15,000.
Panay News is withholding the complete name of the girlfriend, a single mother, to protect her privacy.
“We decided to conduct an entrapment operation after the girlfriend sought our help,” said Sustento.
The girlfriend was a domestic help at the relative’s house in Iloilo City but also had an online business; she sold bags and shoes.
She was in a relationship with Nipangue for over a year and learned that he was a family man only recently, she told the police.
The police seized from Nipangue a cellular phone containing the suspect’s threatening text messages to his girlfriend and a memory card containing their sex videos.
There were six sex videos. The girlfriend said these were apparently recorded when she was drunk.
She also claimed the suspect hurt her physical when they fought.
Nipangue was detained at the Ajuy police station. He denied blackmailing his girlfriend.
Sustento said the suspect faces a charge of robbery with extortion.
Nipangue may also be charged with violating Republic Act 9995, or the Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act of 2009./PN
