BORACAY – Malay, Aklan acting mayor Floribar Bautista advised incoming visitors to this island to present negative coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) test results not earlier than 72 hours before their arrival along with confirmed bookings from Department of Tourism-accredited accommodation establishments.
Locally stranded individuals (LSIs) arriving at the Caticlan port in mainland Malay must also undergo free swab tests and subsequently they will quarantine in a facility in Caticlan.
If tested positive, a LSI will be transferred to the Aklan provincial hospital for close monitoring and medical care.
Reflecting on the low number of tourist arrivals, Bautista said business groups, barangay councils and other organizations in Boracay Island will submit resolutions to the Office of the Provincial Governor this week to allow travelers to Boracay Island even without undergoing COVID tests./PN
