ILOILO – The provincial government is forming a specialized composite enforcement team to clear illegally parked vehicles and strengthen road-safety enforcement along national roads and major highways across Iloilo’s five districts.
Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. said the team would be organized in coordination with the Philippine National Police – Highway Patrol Group (HPG) 6 and the Land Transportation Office (LTO) Region 6.
The Capitol will also procure a vehicle to boost the team’s mobility and operational capability in conducting regular patrols and enforcing traffic laws throughout the province.
Defensor sought the HPG’s assistance during the courtesy visit of newly appointed HPG-6 regional director Police Colonel Jaycon Ramos at the Iloilo Provincial Capitol.
The HPG is a specialized PNP unit responsible for enforcing traffic laws, promoting road safety and combating crimes involving motor vehicles.
The proposed composite team is expected to reinforce the Provincial Task Force on Road Safety, which the provincial government earlier created to keep Iloilo’s thoroughfares safe and orderly.
Defensor also committed assistance for the improvement of the HPG-6 regional office at Camp Martin Delgado in Iloilo City.
Ramos was accompanied during the visit by Provincial Highway Patrol Team-Iloilo leader Police Major Ryan Palaran, Police Senior Master Sergeant John Zata and Police Staff Sergeant Rubie Aquino.
They were later joined by retired Police Colonel Cornelio Salinas, head of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office./PN
