SANTA Clarita International High School Primes kept its unblemished slate in the Panay Sports Association – Asialink Interschool Basketball League 2017 at the Veterans Gym in Iloilo City.
Primes scored back-to-back victories at the expense of St. Paul Senior High School (92-78) and Iloilo Doctors’ College (86-77) to remain on top of the standings with a 2-0 win-loss record.
Primes, however, will need to win its last elimination round assignment against Asialink-St. Paul University U-24 team, which was being played as of press time, to advance to the gold medal match.
“I am satisfied with the way we are playing but we are still a couple of wins away from where we want us to be,” said Primes head coach Rodel Camacho. “We will continue to work hard in our practices to achieve our goal.”
Leading the way for Primes are Ryan Calama-an, King James Gaborno, Giann Paul Nahine, Marvin Cuerbo, Robert Begafria, Ralph Bajon, Frank Tono, Jerimiah Aquino, and Wilmer Dalumpines.
Asialink-St. Paul University U-24 team, meanwhile, split its two matches after scoring a 96-87 win over St. Paul Senior High School before suffering a 95-82 loss to Iloilo Doctors’ College.
Asialink-St. Paul University U-24 and Iloilo Doctors’ College are currently tied on second place in the standings with a 1-1 win-loss card while St. Paul Senior High School is on last place with 0-2.
The top two teams after the three-day elimination round will advance to the knockout finals on Thursday, according to Philip Doce Punzalan of Asialink Financing Corp./PN
