BACOLOD City – Police have yet to determine how the 26-year-old Paulo Agustin of Barangay 23 died.
Agustin had a gunshot wound on the left side of the head.
A drunken Agustin was in the house of friend Adonis Cristales when he fired his .45-caliber pistol around 1:20 a.m. on Sunday.
Cristales told Police Station 4 Agustin, already drunk, went to his house for a drink on Saturday.
He later gave Agustin a pillow and advised him to sleep, said Senior Inspector Elmer Bonilla, station commander.
While lying on the sofa, Agustin took his gun from his belt bag under the television rack. He then sat up and pulled the trigger, Cristales said.
According to Cristales, he tried to stop Agustin, but to no avail.
Police took Cristales in custody and subjected him to paraffin testing.
A .45-caliber pistol loaded with seven live ammunition was recovered from his house./PN
