ILOILO – The Supervising Tourism Operations Officer (STOO) of the provincial government has also been tasked to head in an acting capacity the Provincial Population Office (PPO).
STOO Ruel Von D. Superio takes over from PPO chief Ramon Yee who retired from government service on Feb. 1.
“The acting head of the Provincial Population Office shall ensure the duties and functions inherent to the position and shall be entitled to the monthly representation and transportation allowances and reimbursement of communication expenses appurtenant to the above-stated position allowed by law, subject to the usual accounting and auditing rules and regulations,” read part of Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr.’s Executive Order No. 030 designating Superio to the PPO.
Defensor wanted someone to continue the programs Yee started such as developing teen centers across the province. Currently, there are 96 teen centers in Iloilo.
“The same ang direction sang PPO, ang aton main program amo ang development of teen centers sa mga schools,” said Defensor.
However, Defensor clarified that Superio will remain as executive assistant (EA) to the local chief executive.
Superio has been working in the provincial government for the past 24 years. He was an EA to then governor Arthur Defensor Sr.
In February 2014, he was appointed to the Supervising Tourism Operations Office.
He had also been a chief of staff of then 3rd District Provincial Board member and now governor, Defensor Jr., from 2007 to 2010.
Superio is a Juris Doctor (Bachelor of Laws) graduate of Central Philippine University (CPU) in 2004 and is currently taking up his Master in Public Administration at the Guimaras State University, graduating this April 2023.
He took his bachelor’s degree in Political Science also in CPU and graduated in 1998.
Superio envisions PPO – the implementing arm of the Philippine Population and Development Program in Iloilo – to be a dynamic, reliable, people-centered, technology-driven, and culturally sensitive population information resource agency.
The PPO under his management will aim to “provide technical assistance and information needs to the local government units (LGUs), partner agencies, and stakeholders in carrying out measures relative to the integration of population and development through the generation and utilization of reliable and updated data and the implementation of population management programs and projects to uplift the quality of life of the Ilonggo population.”/PN
