ILOILO City – A suspected subgroup leader of the Prevendido drug group eluded arrest in Pototan, Iloilo.
Ernesto Bolivar of Barangay Guinacas, Pototan fled after selling to a police poseur buyer shabu for P15,000.
He ran away after realizing he was being entrapped, according to Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Region 6 assistant regional director Levi Ortiz.
The buy-bust operation was conducted around 5:30 p.m. on Nov.9 at Bolivar’s house. PDEA was assisted by the Philippine National Police’s Regional Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group (RAIDSOTG) Focus Team 6 and the Pototan police.
“’Yung lugar kasi niya was a compound. Bago ka makapasok sa bahay, may gate na dadaanan. During the transaction, ‘yung ibang tropa natin hindi pa kasama. Na-sense niya na may iba pang kasama. At saka ‘yung paligid eh may relatives siya. Siguro naka-timbre kaya tumakbo agad,” said Ortiz.
Bolivar brought with him the P15,000 that the poseur buyer gave.
Ortiz said Bolivar was the supplier of illegal drugs outside in Iloilo City’s neighboring towns.
“Mas malaki ang coverage niya sa mga areas outside Iloilo City. Siya ang may malaking market outside Iloilo City sa drug trade,” he added.
Yesterday, PDEA filed a complaint at the Iloilo Provincial Prosecutor’s Office against Bolivar for violation of Section 5 (selling) of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
“Not all antidrug operations will turn out the way we wanted them to be. Ang importante is ‘yung drive. Mauubos din ‘yung swerte nila,” said Ortiz.
On Nov. 4, the suspected “brain and muscle” of the Prevendido drug group, Bonie Prevendido Gregori, was arrested along with eight others in Tobias Fornier, Antique.
The eight were Glen Pedrajas, Robert Pedrajas, Aquilino Pedrajas Jr., Argie Elman, Aquilino Pedrajas III, Johnny Rapado, Crisanto Morada, and Jona Fe Tabio.
Gregori was a son of Barangay Captain Remia Prevendido Gregori of Barangay Bakhaw, Mandurriao district and nephew of Richard Prevendido, the suspected leader of the Prevendido drug group.
Gregori was charged with violation of sections 5, 6 (maintenance of a drug den) and 11 (possession) of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002 while his companions were charged with violation of Section 5 in relation to Section 26 (conspiracy) of the antidrug law./PN
