ILOILO City – A thief ransacked a retail store at the Iloilo Terminal Market before dawn on Aug. 18. The suspected culprit was arrested later that day.
Items worth P4,600 were taken from Joy RTW Store, a police report showed.
Her helper discovered the thievery around 2:30 a.m., owner Joy de La Gente, a 43-year-old resident of Barangay Calumpang Zone 3, Molo district, told the police.
Reviewing security camera footage, police saw a man clad in T-shirt, short pants, slippers, and cap entering the store by slashing its tarpaulin cover and screen using a knife around 1 a.m.
The man took the following items before fleeing:
- 20 pieces of T-shirts and blouses worth a total of P2,000

three pieces of Nike T-shirts, P1,050
-
a bag, P500
-
a sling bag, P150
-
10 boxes of briefs, P850
In a follow-up operation, police captured the suspect around 2 p.m. in Barangay Rizal Estanzuela, City Proper – the 22-year-old resident Vincent “Benjie” Bergantinos.
Bergantinos was detained at Police Station 1./PN
