ILOILO – To attract more tourists, the Department of Tourism (DOT) Region 6 updated new tourist destinations in their familiarization tour product.

Emerging tourist attractions in the Iloilo province and the cities of Bacolod and Roxas were included in the Familiarization Tour Product Update Program for tour operators and travel trade media, DOT-6 director Helen Catalbas said.

“This product update aims to inform the traveling public of the newest tourism destinations in the Philippines,” Catalbas said.

DOT-6 partnered with the Tourism Promotions Board to carry out the initiative.

Included in the updated product were the eco-park and river cruise in Capiz; overnight stay in Sicogon Island in Carles, Iloilo; island hopping in Concepcion, Iloilo; and heritage tour in Bacolod City.

“The tour involved the assessment of the destinations, inspection of facilities in the area, product presentation, and business-to-business and networking sessions,” Catalbas said.

Catalbas said DOT-6 also promotes Antique and Guimaras.

“In fact, Antique and Guimaras have been featured in travel magazines and travel shows, both international and local, from February to June 2017,” she said. (PIA/PN)
