Tracksters from WV make UniGames headway for UST

WESTERN Visayas-native tracksters playing for the University of Santo Tomas made winning starts in athletics of the 2018 Philippine University Games at the M. Perdices Coliseum in Dumaguete City.

Louielyn Pamatian successfully retained her gold in women’s 800m run with 2 minutes and 16.82 seconds Tuesday.

But the native of Bago City, Negros Occidental failed to defend her gold in women’s 1500m, finishing with silver behind teammate Jie Anne Calis.

Alyssa Andrade, who hails from New Washington, Aklan, bagged the gold medal in women’s long jump with 5.58m. Elvy Villagoniza, also from UST, settled for silver with 5.55m.

Andrade, however, failed to achieve double-gold after finishing on second place in women’s 100m dash. Schoolmate Rosnani Pamaybay ran away with the gold.

Meanwhile Aira Teodosio of Silay City, Negros Occidental captured the gold medal in women’s hammer throw with schoolmate Luz Delfin, who hails from Himamaylan City, net the silver.

John Purisima, a player from Calatrava, Negros Occidental, bagged silver in men’s discus throw while Andre Bardos, a native of Kabankalan City, brought home bronze in 800m run./PN
