ILOILO City – With all the support the city police is getting from the city government, they must do their job well.
This was stressed by Mayor Jerry Treñas relative to the recent murder of Glen Peremne, health and sanitation team leader of the Iloilo Fish Port Complex.
Treñas instructed Police Colonel Uldarico Garbanzos, director of the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO), to immediately solve the case.
“Ginhambalan ko si Colonel Garbanzos I don’t want these things to happen in Iloilo City. Indi manami nga ginhawa ta na ka obra nga buligan ang (Philippine National Police) para sa ila nga kinanglanon, may gakatabo pa nga parehas sini,” according to Treñas.
The mayor said he would also be summoning the management of the Iloilo Fish Port Complex to discuss alleged irregularities in the facility.
As to Peremne’s killing, Treñas said the police now have a lead, and all information related to the killing were already forwarded to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group.
Soon charges will be filed against several suspects, according to the mayor.
Peremne was peppered with bullets by unidentified riding-in-tandem gunmen in Zone 5, Barangay San Juan, Molo district on the night of April 23.
The victim died of four gunshot wounds but police recovered from the crime scene five empty shells compatible to a .9mm-caliber pistol.
The ICPO, for its part, said it was deploying hundreds of police officers on the streets of this southern city during nighttime.
There would be checkpoints, beat patrols and motorcycle patrols, Garbanzos earlier said.
The ICPO would also tap force multipliers and barangay officials to help the police in beat patrolling./PN
