ILOILO – A “trisikad” driver was attacked by his nephew in Barangay Alibayog, Sara.
The incident around 6 a.m. on Nov. 12 killed “Mer,” a 50-year-old resident of the barangay’s Sitio Buenavista.
The Sara Municipal Police Station identified the suspect as 20-year-old “AJ.”
A gruesome altercation unfolded when AJ, believed to be intoxicated, arrived at Mer’s residence.
Corporal Jose Nixon Villanueva revealed that the victim confronted the suspect for always being rowdy and drunk upon returning home.
Eventually, the suspect seized a nearby metal tube and struck his uncle multiple times.
Mer was rushed to Sara District Hospital, where the attending physician pronounced him dead upon arrival.
The Sara police successfully apprehended AJ soon after launching a hot pursuit operation.
The victim’s family has yet to decide whether to file charges against the suspect.
It is learned that the suspect already had a murder case in the town of Ajuy when he was 17 years old.
Additionally, the police have confirmed that the suspect was under monitoring due to information suggesting his involvement in illegal drug use./PN
