ILOILO – The Iloilo Bantay Dagat Task Force intensified its campaign against illegal fishing with the arrest of two fishermen near Sicogon Island in Carles town on Friday night, March 28.
Aliases “Mar”, 35, a resident of Barangay Logingot, Estancia town, and “Mino”, 53, from Barangay Binonan, Batad, were caught engaging in illegal fishing activities.
They were operating fishing boat (FB) “Elmar” and FB “Handsome”, respectively.
Authorities seized two fishing boats, two tubs of fish worth approximately P3,000, and various fishing equipment as part of the operation.
The arrested fishermen were later released after settling their penalties with the Carles local government.
The Bantay Dagat Task Force meanwhile said they continue their strict enforcement of fishing regulations to protect marine resources./PN
