ILOILO – Police tracker teams arrested two of Pototan’s most wanted persons, both facing rape charges, in separate manhunt operations executed within less than an hour on Monday afternoon, September 14.
Operatives from the Pototan Municipal Police Station’s (MPS) Tracker Team first collared alias “Jomar,” 33, a married resident of Pototan listed as the town’s No. 2 most wanted, at around 2:15 p.m.
He was served an arrest warrant for rape by sexual assault under Article 266-A, Paragraph 2 of the Revised Penal Code, as amended by Republic Act (RA) No. 8353. The warrant was issued on September 9, 2026 by the Regional Trial Court’s Branch 68 in Dumangas, Iloilo, with a recommended bail set at P120,000.
Shortly after, at around 3 p.m., the same tracker team apprehended the town’s No. 2 fugitive, identified as alias “Cris,” 84, married, and a resident of Pototan.
He was caught by virtue of a warrant of arrest for statutory rape under Article 266-A, Paragraph 2 of the Revised Penal Code, as amended by RA 8353. The warrant was also issued by the aforementioned court on May 11, 2023, with no bail recommended.
Both suspects are currently detained at the Pototan MPS pending turnover to the court concerned.
Police Brigadier General Randulf Tuaño, director of the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6), praised the Pototan police force for their swift execution of the warrants.
“Walang sinumang may kinakaharap na kaso ang dapat makaiwas sa proseso ng batas. Patuloy na kikilos ang ating mga tracker teams upang matunton ang mga wanted person at maiharap sila sa korte, habang tinitiyak na ang bawat operasyon ay isinasagawa nang naaayon sa batas at may paggalang sa kanilang mga karapatan,” said Tuaño./PN
