UniGames: Negrense bets take 4 athletics medals

NEGRENSE athletes captured four medals, including two golds, in the 2018 Philippine University Games athletics on Thursday at the Lamberto Macias Sports Complex in Dumaguete City.

University of Santo Tomas track and field team’s Luz Delfin and Aira Teodosio captured the gold and silver medal in women’s shot put with 10.66m and 10.20m, respectively.

It was the second medal of the Himamaylan City native Delfin and Silay City native Teodosio after capturing silver and gold medals in the women’s hammer throw, respectively.

Victorias City’s Jessa Mae Jarder, also from UST, took home the gold medal in women’s 400m hurdles, while Bacolod City’s Geraldine Rodrigo Lasquite of Rizal Technological University bagged silver in women’s high jump.

UP, UST IN VOLLEYBALL Q’FINALS

In women’s volleyball, University of the Philippines Lady Maroons battled back from a set down to score a 23-25, 25-21, 19-25, 25-16, 15-11 win over College of St. Benilde Lady Blazers to advance to the quarterfinals.

Defending champions University of Santo Tomas Golden Tigresses also kept their unblemished slate with a 11-25, 25-15, 25-16, 25-17 triumph over University of Perpetual Help Lady Altas.

Also moving on to the quarterfinals are UAAP champions De La Salle University Lady Spikers, National University Lady Bulldogs, University of the East Lady Warriors, PUP, Lady Blazers, and Lady Altas./PN
