MANILA – Alyssa Valdez and her 3BB Nakornnont team have qualified to the 2017 Volleyball Thai-Denmark Super League, where they could face a guest team composed of players from the Philippine Superliga.
The 3BB Nakornnont team qualified to the prestigious week-long tournament after placing fourth at the end of the double-round eliminations of the 2016-2017 Volleyball Thailand League with a 7-6 win-loss slate.
The Thanakit Inleang-mentored 3BB Nakornnont squad maintained its impressive run in the second round of the 2016-2017 VTL eliminations with the entry of Valdez as its guest player.
Valdez, a three-time MVP awardee in the UAAP and Shakey’s V-League, became the first-ever Filipina to be tapped to play as reinforcement or guest player in the prestigious Thailand volleyball league.
Since the Batangas City-native Valdez entered 3BB Nakornnont, the team has split its six matches wherein the national volleyball team member has contributed offensively and defensively.
Valdez’s best game so far in her brief stints with the 3BB Nakornnont is a nine-point performance in their 25-14, 25-21, 25-15 straight set victory over the Rangsit University team.
“I am glad with the opportunity given to me by the 3BB Nakornnont,” said Valdez. “I will treasure everything I will learn from here and hope to use it when I play for the national team.”
Aside from 3BB Nakkornnont, other teams that qualified to the Thai-Denmark League are Supreme Chonburi-E.Tech (13-0), Bangkok Glass (11-2), Nakhon Ratchasima The Mall (9-4), Khonkhaen Star (6-7) and King-Bangkok (4-9)./PN
