ILOILO City – An aluminum van plunged into a canal along circumferential road in Barangay Buhang, Jaro district on Friday.
The driver, 24-year-old Arnold Edong of Barangay San Antonio, San Enrique, Iloilo, lost control of the vehicle after the steering allegedly got “locked,” the Jaro Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Unit (TIEU) said.
Edong and companion 28-year-old Alex Barredo Jr. of Barangay Bolilao, Mandurriao district complained of body pains.
Edong had aching head and right knee, while Barredo sustained abrasions on the left knee and head and a swelling on the wrist. They were taken to Qualimed Hospital, also in Mandurriao.
They were bound for Barangay Tacas, Jaro when the accident happened, the TIEU said.
Edong swerved the steering wheel to the right, causing the van to ram the road shoulder and head into the canal.
The van (plate number ATA-1087) was damaged on the front windshield, front bumper, front right headlight, front left door, left side panel, and rear left bumper./PN
