Village chief shot dead by riding-in-tandem 

ILOILO City – A village chief was shot dead by riding-in-tandem gunmen on Sunday night in Barangay Abong, Carles, Iloilo.

Jose Marcelo, 74, and village chief of Abong died while being treated at the Jesus Colmenares District Hospital.

The shooting happened at 10:30 p.m. Marcelo was in a motorcycle being driven by tanod member Pio Juanillo. Two men blocked their way.

One of the gunmen shot Marcelo on the forehead, said Police Major Nestor Bacuyag, Carles police chief.

Juanillo was left unharmed.

The triggerman was wearing white t-shirt.

Abong was a retired member of the Philippine National Police.

Iloilo police director Colonel Adrian Acollador said investigation is ongoing. All possible motives are being explored./PN
