MANILA – Vice President Sara Duterte-Carpio is not attending the scheduled hearing by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on her alleged death threat against President Marcos Jr. and others today.
According to Duterte-Carpio, as per the advice of her legal counsel, she would just submit an affidavit explaining her side.
“Ang pagkakaintindi ko sa explanation ng mga abogado ko sa investigation ng NBI ay pwede namang hindi pumunta. Pwede naman mag-submit na lang daw ng sulat or affidavit,” Duterte-Carpio said in an interview with GMA’s 24 Oras.
The Vice President added that she has a scheduled thanksgiving activities today and will also return back to Davao City for her uncle’s burial.
“Meron kaming thanksgiving na mga activities sa December 11, at pangatlo after ng thanksgiving activities namin ay pauwi din ako dito sa Davao City para maglibing ng uncle ko,” Duterte-Carpio said.
Duterte-Carpio failed to attend the previous hearing on November 29 as she belatedly found out about the postponement of her scheduled hearing before the House of Representatives.
The NBI subpoenaed Duterte-Carpio to shed light on her statement that she contacted an assassin to kill President Marcos, House Speaker Martin Romualdez, and First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, should an alleged plot to kill her succeed.
The Department of Justice earlier stated that Duterte-Carpio could face complaints for libel, defamation, and grave threat for her remarks against the President.
Duterte-Carpio clarified that her statement was taken out of context and said that the “revenge” plot had a specific condition and does not constitute to an active threat./PN
