Western Visayas jins make waves in online taekwondo tilt

MANILA – Taekwondo jins from Western Visayas bagged awards during the 2020 Smart/MVP Sports Foundation Global Taekwondo Online Speedkicking Championships over the weekend.

Ilongga Elisha Venice Aguilar of A. Diasnes Gym captured a gold medal in the junior female light middleweight division while Djanne Joed Sarria also took home gold in the junior male light heavyweight event.

Ilonggo Alfie Diasnes, a mainstay of A. Diasnes Gym, settled for a silver finish in the senior male light/welterweight event while stablemate Cindy Joy Diasnes captured bronze in her event.

Ilonggo Cyd Edryc Esmaña of the Iloilo MVP Taekwondo stable also captured a bronze medal in the cadet male featherweight category and fellow Ilonggo Aldriene Earl Horlador also won bronze in his event.

Taekwondo jins from Capiz, meanwhile, delivered two golds courtesy of Joshua Lopez and Allyah Dominique Eusalan while Lance Timothy Paragas settled for a bronze. The three Capiznon jins were from Venancio Taekwondo Academy-Capiz.

Negros Taekwondo Union’s Leigh Andee Rodriguez, on the other hand, settled for a bronze medal in the junior female finweight/flyweight category./PN
