ILOILO City – A 70-year-old woman was found dead in her house in Barangay Mianay, Sigma, Capiz yesterday.
The body of Sheryl Bermejo already showed signs of decomposition.
The foul smell from Bermejo’s house led neighbors to discover her body around 6 a.m.
According to Senior Inspector Efren Yuing, Sigma police chief, Bermejo had injuries on the forehead, right eye and chest, citing the findings of the municipal health officer, Dr. Maria Teresa Tan.
There were strong indications that Bermejo was robbed, sad Yuing. Responding police officers found her house in disarray.
Bermejo was living alone and was running a small store in her house.
Neighbors told the police they last saw her alive on April 26 at her store.
“We believe Bermejo was a robbery victim. But we have no suspect yet,” said Yuing.
The police, however, had not determined as of this writing what valuables were taken from the house./PN
