ILOILO City – Fire struck a house in Barangay Balantang, Jaro district on Tuesday night. A 32-year-old woman was injured.
Jocelyn Dela Vida sustained bruises and minor burns on her left arm around 11:56 p.m.

She received treatment from the Iloilo City Emergency Responders.
The house that fire struck belonged to one Jose Basas. Dela Vida lived there, according to Senior Fire Officer 1 Rollin Hormina of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).

The house was made of light materials so the fire spread quickly.

Homina said it took firefighters almost an hour to completely put out the fire.
Dela Vida sustained injuries trying to save some of her valuables.

According to neighbors, they heard an explosion prior to the fire. It may have been from a liquefied petroleum gas tank, they said.

As of this writing, the BFP was yet to release the results of its investigation.
The fire’s total damage reached P100,000./PN
