ILOILO – The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) in Western Visayas recorded over 900,000 sea passengers from April 2 until 6 p.m. on Monday, April 10.
Of this, 482,896 were outbound passengers and 426,835 were inbound.
Here is the breakdown of outbound passengers per province:
* Antique – 2,732
* Aklan – 182,033
* Iloilo – 158,357
* Capiz – 1,822
* Guimaras – 91,221
* Negros Occidental – 46,731
The number of inbound passengers per province:
* Antique – 2,996
* Aklan – 172,400
* Iloilo – 124,638
* Capiz – 1,888
* Guimaras – 81,442
* Negros Occidental – 43,471
PCG-WV spokesperson, commander Jansen Benjamin said majority of tourists were headed to Boracay Island in Aklan.
The PCG still expects an increase in the number of passengers today, especially those going to Iloilo from Bacolod as well as those from Guimaras to Iloilo City as the long weekend officially ended and people head back to work or school.
Benjamin also advised sea travelers to head to seaport terminals early and expect a heavy influx of passengers.
Over 300 PCG personnel were deployed in various ports, said Benjamin.
