LAOAG, Ilocos Norte – Gymnast Sheena Jillianne Chua Ty had another solid showing with five golds and one silver medal in the 2025 Palarong Pambansa on Friday here.
Ty, originally from Bacolod City but represented Olongapo City in the sporting event, claimed her gold medals in the elementary girls rhythmic gymnastics free hand, rope, hoop, ball, and individual all-around before settling for silver in the team category.
Last year, Ty made a mark with six gold medals in team, individual all around, freehand, rope, hoop, and ball events in the Palarong Pambansa held in Cebu City.
The 11-year-old Ty, a student of Special Education Center for the Gifted in Kalayaan, Subic Bay Freeport Zone, participated in Palarong Pambansa for the third consecutive time.
“Jill is a living testament that hard work and determination really pays off. Her perseverance, resilience, dedication and prayers has brought her to newer heights,” said her mother, Jac Jac Ty.
Meanwhile, Ric Daniel Pasadilla of Pototan, Iloilo took home three gold medals in the elementary boys 50-meter butterly, 50-meter backstroke, and 50-meter breaststroke events.
In chess, Ilongga Kate Pacino Pardilla captured two gold medals in the elementary girls individual standard chess and team event with Thea Grace Clar, while Capiznon Andrea Deondo and Leslie Faye Dizon won a gold in secondary girls table tennis doubles.
In track and field, Marjen Iwayan, a native of Sagay City in Negros Occidental, ruled the elementary girls high jump event, while Capiznon Angel Villagracia bagged two bronze medals in secondary girls 100-meter and 200-meter dash.
Elmar Lloyd Genova, who hails from Cauayan in Negros Occidental, also won a gold medal in the secondary boys pencak silat after defeating his opponent from CALABARZON in the finals./PN
