ILOILO City – The Department of Tourism (DOT) Region 6 will give children with special needs a farm tour this week.
Regional Director Helen Catalbas said the farm tour on Friday is part of the 39th National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Week.

“Tourism is for everyone … including persons and children with disabilities,” Catalbas said.

The tour will immerse the children with outdoor activities and introduce them to the latest farm products in Western Visayas.

Catalbas said this activity will provide an “environment of support” for the children’s development.

“DOT Region 6 is certain this small act of kindness will go a long way not only for these children but also for the tourism industry,” she said.

She added the farm tour will encourage tourism establishments to make their facilities and amenities more persons with disability-friendly.

The activity is a partnership between DOT Region 6 and the Special Education Integrated School for Exceptional Children. (PIA)
