ILOILO – One hundred Ilonggo youth-at-risk are now taking their 10-day life skills training online under the JobStart Philippines Program.
JobStart is a program of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) meant to prepare young Filipinos for employment by honing their personal values and skills.
It is also supported by the Iloilo Public Employment Service Office (PESO) after Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. gave a green light to implement the program this year.
According to PESO, program beneficiaries will undergo 37 online modules to assist them towards better understanding themselves, recognizing their abilities, aligning their life goals, planning their career path, and preparing for job interviews.
“Collaborative learning will be encouraged as participants will be given opportunities to interact and learn from one another, capped by a recognition program on the 10th day,” the PESO said.
Along with the technical training, which runs from July 5 to 15, comes an allowance and paid internship with partner companies.
PESO also shared that the full-cycle program cost allotted for each beneficiary is P50,856 covering the training allowances and fees, insurance, medical and laboratory fees, and security permits.
To note, the provincial government bore the cost for 20 trainees, while DOLE provided funds for the 80 beneficiaries. (Iloilo PESO, PIA Iloilo/PN)
