BACOLOD City — All 106 personnel of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology–Negros Island Region (BJMP-NIR) tested negative for illegal drugs following a surprise drug-testing activity on September 21.
The result highlights the agency’s commitment to maintaining a drug-free, safe, and accountable workforce, said BJMP-NIR spokesperson and Legal Service chief Jail Chief Inspector Atty. Juniven Rey S. Umadhay.
Conducted under the leadership of BJMP-NIR director Chief Supt. Brendan O. Fulgencio, the screening yielded clean results across all tested personnel, proving full compliance with the bureau’s strict anti-drug mandates.
The Health Service Division oversaw sample collection and processing in accordance with established medical protocols to ensure complete confidentiality and test integrity.
Umadhay emphasized that the 100-percent passing rate goes beyond standard government compliance, as it also reflects the bureau’s commitment to promoting health, integrity and accountability among its personnel.
He added that maintaining a drug-free workforce is essential to preserving public trust and confidence in the agency, and supporting its mandate to provide effective jail management and custodial services.
The BJMP-NIR affirmed that it will continue conducting similar workplace screenings to safeguard organizational integrity./PN
