ANTIQUE – The Commission on Elections (Comelec) in this province has registered more than 500,000 voters in preparation for the upcoming Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) scheduled on November 2.
Comelec Antique Provincial Election Supervisor Atty. Hazel Palencia reported that regular voters in the province have reached a total of 404,557.
Based on official Comelec-Antique data, the municipality of Sibalom recorded the highest number of registered regular voters at 41,981, followed by the capital town of San Jose with 39,870, and Hamtic with 32,050.
Meanwhile, Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) voters totaled 147,725 across the province. Sibalom likewise topped the youth voter tally with 14,734 registrants, followed by San Jose with 13,351 and Hamtic with 11,667.
Palencia affirmed that Comelec Antique is continuously advancing its election preparations in the absence of any official announcement postponing the polls.
She added that should a postponement occur, voter registration activities will immediately resume to accommodate more applicants.
The official filing of certificates of candidacy for the Nov. 2 BSKE is scheduled from September 28 to October 5./PN
