SAN JOSE, Antique – Ten thousand people from Western Visayas affected by super typhoon “Yolanda” may possibly receive the Presidential Financial Assistance (PFA).
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Region 6 has validated their names and submitted them to the central office.
The households on the list have not yet received financial assistance from government or other donors, Regional Director Rebecca Geamala said.
But Geamala said validations on the field are ongoing.
Validation starts with the municipal social welfare and development officers. The list is then forwarded to the DSWD regional office, which in turn submits the validated list to the central office.
Qualified family-beneficiaries could receive P5,000 each. Distribution is expected to start anytime this month.
Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program beneficiaries qualified to receive the PFA could get the aid through their cash cards.
Some 8,859 “Yolanda”-affected families in Antique were being validated for the PFA, Social Welfare Officer Luna Moscoso, DSWD focal person, said during an orientation-cum-planning workshop on the PFA in the province on Feb. 17.
The Duterte administration came up with the PFA to aid “Yolanda”-affected families still in need of government help, with the Emergency Shelter Assistance, or ESA, no longer available, Geamala explained. (PNA)
