BACOLOD City – Police rescued 11 minors after their parents reported that they’ve gone missing for several days.
The minors were rescued at around 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 20 in Sitio Beranio, Barangay Lantad, Silay City, Negros Occidental.
Silay City Police Superintendent Noel Polices, Silay City police chief, said pedicab driver Aldin Boy Rosales, 24, of Barangay Rizal, Silay City “adopted” the minors and taught them to smoke and drink liquor.
Polices said the minors were also recruited as members of the Respetadong Kagalang-galang Batang Gang ng Silay.
The minors were turned over to the Youth Center in Silay City while Rosales was detained at the city’s police station lockup facility.
The operation was staged by the Silay City police and the Department of Social Services and Development./PN
