12 Roxas police station staff contract ‘corona’

ROXAS City – Twelve personnel of the police station here contracted coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

On June 21, an initial six tested positive and when contact tracing was conducted, six more were found to be infected. They were mostly asymptomatic.

According to Police Lieutenant Aron Palomo, city police chief, the first six cases already recovered while the rest were still on quarantine.  

Most of the infected personnel were doing administrative tasks at the police station.

To ensure of the safety of the rest of the police station’s personnel, Palomo said several were swabbed yesterday.

The results may be out today.

If more station personnel test positive, the police station would be locked down, said Palomo.

He, however, assured residents that police services will not be hampered.

The city police station has a total of 180 personnel and some are assigned on the field./PN
