PANAY, Capiz – The chief tanod of Barangay Poblacion Ilawod was shot dead past 8 p.m. on July 6.
Charles Bofill, 43, was a former seafarer. Aside from being a barangay tanod, he also operated a carwash station.
Motorcycle-riding gunmen attacked him at his carwash shop then left.
Residents nearby heard several bursts of gunfire and checked the carwash station. They found a bloody Bofill on the floor.
Bofill was taken to the Saint Anthony College Hospital where he was declared dead.
Police Lieutenant Francisco Umiten Jr., officer-in-charge of the Panay police station, said the killing appeared planned.
They were pursuing two angles, said Umiten but he declined to elaborate so as not to jeopardize the ongoing investigation./PN
