ILOILO – Authorities confiscated the fishing boat, assorted fish, and paraphernalia valued at around P145,000 following an anti-illegal fishing operation in the waters off Barangay Tambaliza, Concepcion, Iloilo.
Joint elements of the Iloilo Provincial Bantay Dagat Task Force and the Regional Intelligence Unit 6 apprehended a 43-year-old fisherman identified as alias “Widen,” a resident of Barangay Botlog, Concepcion, at around 12:55 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 4, in Sitio Banban.
According to initial reports, the suspect was caught engaging in unlicensed fishing activities using a modified bag net, locally known as siklob, in violation of Section 86 of the Municipal Fishing Ordinance.
Authorities seized a motorboat valued at P100,000, fishing paraphernalia worth P40,000, and 10 kilograms of assorted fish valued at P5,000.
The suspect is currently in police custody while the seized boat, fish, and gear were turned over to the Iloilo Provincial Bantay Dagat Task Force for proper disposition./PN
