18-year-old lad yields gun, ‘shabu’ in San Dionisio

ILOILO – An 18-year-old man was arrested after police seized an unlicensed firearm, ammunition, and suspected shabu in Barangay Tuble, San Dionisio, Iloilo on Monday night, Oct. 5.

Police identified the suspect by the alias “Kim,” single, and a resident of the town’s Barangay Capinang.

According to the San Dionisio Municipal Police Station (MPS), officers responded to a call from a concerned citizen at around 8 p.m. regarding a man causing alarm and scandal in the area while allegedly armed with a handgun.

Police recovered from the suspect a caliber .38 revolver loaded with two live rounds and two heat-sealed plastic sachets of suspected shabu.

Initial investigation revealed that the suspect went to a sari-sari store to buy liquor but was refused service by the owner. Angered by the refusal, the suspect allegedly shouted outside the store and threatened the owner using a screwdriver.

Roving barangay officials in the area immediately subdued the suspect before turning him over to the responding police officers.

The suspect was detained at the San Dionisio MPS custodial facility while documents were being prepared for the formal filing of charges. He faces complaints for alarm and scandal, and violation of Republic Act (RA) 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act) and RA 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002)./PN
