ILOILO City – Police caught 15 individuals engaged in illegal gambling in Barangay Alinsolong, Batad, Iloilo.
They were Gerly Bones, Rosa Tomo, Janice dela Cruz, Iris Canoday, Joseph Fabiantes, Charlene
Descalso, Cherry Faviantes, Ann Marie Calderon, Airen Blanker, Celsa Bitoren, Lolita Sanchez, Alma Balida, Lorena Sibog, Rolinda Arbolado, and Letecia Sanchez – all residents of the village.
Police caught them playing mahjong and tong-its during a wake around 4:30 p.m. on Nov. 16.
Recovered from their possession were decks of playing cards, mahjong sets and P3,794 bet money.
The suspects were taken to the municipal police station, facing charges for violating Presidential Decree 1602 that outlaws illegal gambling./PN
