ILOILO – A 19-year-old motorcyclist lost his life after crashing into the rear of a truck parked along the roadside in Barangay Apologista, Sara, Iloilo over the weekend.
The victim, identified by authorities only as alias “Klark,” a resident of the said barangay, succumbed to severe head and body injuries while undergoing treatment at the Sara District Hospital.
According to Police Major John Salvador A. Bello, chief of the Sara Municipal Police Station (MPS), police officers responded to the scene at around 11:25 p.m. on Saturday, October 24, following a report from a concerned citizen.
Initial police investigation revealed that the victim was heading home from Sara town proper when he lost control of his motorcycle upon reaching Barangay Apologista, slamming into the back of a parked Mitsubishi Canter truck.
The truck driver, identified as alias “Marcelo,” explained in a K5 News FM Sara interview that his vehicle broke down on the side of the road and claimed he had set up an early warning device to alert passing motorists.
As of this writing, the Sara MPS was still awaiting the victim’s family’s decision on whether to file formal charges against the truck driver./PN
